James A. Butler passed away on December 14, 2014.
He was born in Sandusky Ohio, graduated from Sandusky High School in 1951, was an alumnus of The University of Toledo and served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army in both Japan and Korea.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice; and their two children, Peter L. (Karen) and Laura C, (Dana) Addis. He was the proud grandfather of Erika and Gregory Butler, Dean Brennan and twin granddaughters, Hannah and Olivia Addis, the loves of his life.
A salesman all his life, he retired from The Research Institute of America after 38 years in both sales and sales management. He joined the Sales and Marketing Executives of Akron in 1968, served over 20 years on its Board including 3 terms as President. Jim served for 18 years on Fairlawn City Council including 3 as President. A long-time member of Toastmasters International, he founded the A. M. Akron club in 1991.
Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., THURSDAY from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral service will take place at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 11:30 a.m., FRIDAY, Dec. 19th, Pastor Elizabeth Hadler officiating. Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montrose Zion U.M.C., 565 N. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333.
