James G. Georgiadis, 87, passed away January 14, 2016.
James 'Jimmy' Georgiadis, of Wadsworth, 87, passed away January 14, 2016.
Devoted husband of Sophie . . . Loving Baba of George & Leslie, Anastasi & Tiffany . . . Proud Papou to Elliot, Dimitri, John, Jimmy, and Sophie . . . is at peace and once again with his brother, our dear Uncle Jack, and many others he has missed for far too long.
A graduate of South High School in Akron and Kent State University, he served in the Naval Reserves. Many will remember that Jim, along with his late brother Jack, owned Jimbo's Dine American Restaurants for over 40 years, at one point operating out of four locations. During that time both brothers were very active in the Norton Community and served as positive influences to many young people. Their involvement included support of bowling and soccer teams, sponsoring soap box derby entrants, and helping to organize the Norton Community Fair. These efforts along with others led to their being recognized by Proclamation and awarded The Key to the City of Norton in 2002.
Jim was a Mason and member of the National Restaurant Association. In 1953 he was a charter member of GOYA at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where he was also a Second Tenor in the Male Chorus for many, many years. He served The Order of AHEPA and with The Asia Minor Hellenic American Society.
Jim held great affection for gardening, and a deep appreciation for music and the arts. His strong work ethic was an example to his children and grandchildren who will remember him as dignified, yet playful. He was a thoughtful, humble, and patient man who spoke only with purpose, and who you rarely, if ever, heard complain. Quiet and serious by nature, he had a surprisingly whimsical side that endeared him to many. A man who despite all else lost, never lost his sense of humor.
He inspired respect from his family, loyalty from life long friends, and great devotion from Sophie . . . her support and care of Jim (who she often called 'Dear Dear') was tireless and relentless. She was his champion and advocate until his final moments - may we all know such love. They shared 50 years of marriage and Sophie would often ask him, "Jim, how long have we been married?" . . . and his response without fail was always, "Not long enough Sophie, not long enough" . . . Well, our time with you Papou was just that . . . Not long enough, but we take comfort in thinking of you sailing with parea once again.
May his memory be eternal . . .
The Georgiadis Family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Hospice and every administrator and staff member at The Inn at CoalRidge - your exceptional care, support, and compassion during this time has touched our hearts.
