James M. Hooper

James M. Hooper, 93, died February 15, 2013.

Born in Oakman, Alabama, he had lived in Akron since the early 1940's. A member of Fairlawn West United Church of Christ, James was a Mason and avid Golfer. He loved to play Good Park and had enjoyed several hole-in-ones over the years. James came to Akron to work for B.F. Goodrich and retired from its successor, Michelin, with 47 years service.

Preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Patricia; he is survived by his son, Allan (Sandra); daughter, Becky (Donna); granddaughter, Kelli; grandsons, Gregory (Darla) and Richard; great-grandsons, Greg, Nicholas and Jonathon; great-granddaughters, Corynne, Kaitlyn and Morgan; his Thursday breakfast group, many good friends and neighbors including Isabelle Hershberger, Chip Roberts, Liz Firestone and Winnie Brown.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 3:30 p.m. MONDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. David E. Loar officiating. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akron General Development Foundation, Hospice Fund, 400 Wabash Ave., Akron, OH 44307.
