James Doyle Shawver

ASHEVILLE -- James Doyle Shawver, 84, of King Arthur Court, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, surrounded by family.

Mr. Shawver was born in Akron, Ohio, and was a son of the late Thomas Lewis and Velma Ruth Everhart Shawver. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a former accountant with Stouffers Food Company. He was a member of Cornerstone Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Samra Williams (Lynn) of Asheville, Lynda Freedman (Richard) of Mentor, Ohio, Trish Shawver of Atlanta, Ga., and Brenda Mason (Bill) of Brooksville, Fla.; three sons, Mark Shawver of Cleveland, Ohio, James Shawver of Sarasota, Fla., and Donald Shawver of Asheville; a sister, Hazel Stull of Akron, Ohio; a brother, William Shawver (Loretta) of Kerrville, Texas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and the Cuyahoga Falls American Legion Post 281. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billow Funeral Home, Fairlawn Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 190 S. Maple St., Akron, OH 44302.
