James D Smith

James D. Smith, 77, passed away June 25, 2014.

Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, he was a graduate of Meeker High School in 1955 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green University and served in the National Guard. A 32nd degree Mason, York Rite, he was a member of Star Lodge # 187 F&AM, the Order of the Jesters and had served as Monarch of Yusef Khan Grotto and as president of the Benefit Board. James retired after thirty years service as chief accountant from The B.F. Goodrich Company and also retired after twenty seven years service from Met Life as a financial adviser. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mildred Smith; he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (nee Hamlin) Smith; brother, Richard L. (Carol) Smith of Orlando, FL; brothers-in-law, Michael (Diane) Hamlin and Robert Hamlin; sister-in-law, Carol (Phillip) Downey; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Bobo.

Services will be held 11 a.m. MONDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St. , with Rev. David E. Brown officiating. Interment at Glendale Cemetery.
