James A. Tainer
James A. Tainer, 83, passed away July 28, 2008.
He was born and grew up in Cleveland and received a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. Jim worked at B.F. Goodrich later Uniroyal, then Michelin from 1949 until his retirement in 1988. He served as Director of Licensee Relations for Uniroyal Goodrich, and worked in Tuscaloosa, New Zealand, Fort Wayne, Brazil, Holland, and Akron. Jim had a passion for golf, was a master of home renovation and gardening, and had numerous canine companions over the years including Rascal and Beau.
Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie Tainer; he is survived by his wife of sixty- one years, Ann Pickering Tainer; sons, Steven Alicia and John Elizabeth Getzoff; and granddaughter, Elizabeth; brothers, Frank Doris and Robert Mary Ellen; sister-in-law, Marion Couch; and nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Mass following cremation will be held THURSDAY, July 31st at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 476 Mull Ave., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel
