James W. Vogus, 77, passed away November 3, 2013.
Jim was born in New Castle, PA. He served four years in his beloved U.S. Marine Corps before coming to Akron, Ohio, and starting at General Tire before going into the commercial art field. Jim was a talented artist and lover of the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and bird watching with his son, Doug. Jim loved the Cuyahoga Valley and Akron Metro Parks and was a park ranger for Metro Parks, Serving Summit County for 15 years before moving on as a security guard for Sterling Jewelers for 18 years.
Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Louise Vogus; brothers, Ed and Gary Vogus; Jim was the loving father of Brian, Douglas (Michelle) and Tracy Vogus; dear grandfather of Paige Vogus; and loving brother of Dick Vogus and Peg Via. Though divorced, he remained friendly with his ex-wife, Jeannette Maloney of Sun City, AZ.
Services will be held 11 a.m. FRIDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with David E. Loar officiating. Interment with military honors at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls. Friends may call at the funeral home THURSDAY from 4 to 7 p.m. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
