Jan Martha Rhodenbaugh-Gibson died March 18, 2014.
She was born on February 2, 1952 to Barbara and Jerry Rhodenbaugh in Akron, Ohio.
Jan graduated from Firestone High School and then attended Kent State University.
She moved to London UK in 1971, where, with a keen eye for Americana and collectables, she travelled extensively in North America, Europe, Asia, North and Central Africa and Australia. In between trips, she worked as a stylist for "Swatch" and other organizations, and even arranging the UK music tour of Ry Cooder and the Benevista Social Club.
After graduating with a Diploma from Leith's Food and Wine Cooking School in London, with the Scholarship she also won, Jan went to Beijing and Shanghai and attained a Diploma from the Beijing Culinary Institute.
In 2002, Jan and Peter Gibson, a UK resident, moved to a small chateau in Normandy where they operated a guest house and cooking school.
Jan was preceded in death by her father, Jerry. She is survived by her husband, Peter; her mother, Barbara; and her sister, Susan Yovichin, both of Akron; and grandchildren, Sam and Sophie in the UK.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. SATURDAY, March 22 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with certified funeral celebrant, Kevin O'Brien officiating.
