Jane was born in Ohio to John Russell Hubbard and Catherine Proudfoot Macbeth on April 4, 1934. She grew up in a house perched on the edge of the Rocky River Valley. She graduated from Purdue University with a BS degree in Special Education and later received a Master’s degree in Gerontology at Cleveland State University. Pi Lamda Theta Honor society in both undergrad and graduate school. Member Kappa Alpha Theta. She married Frank N. Beaven, Jr. (later divorced) just after college. She was a Special Education teacher at Mentor-on-the-Lake schools prior to raising her 3 children. Once her children were grown she worked for Hamlet Hills, Willowpark, and University Manor Healthcare Nursing Homes as a Recreational Therapy Director. She resided for many years in Chagrin Falls, OH and later in Akron, OH. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at The Cleveland Metroparks Nature Realm, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Cancer Society and with Fort Island Elementary Schools. But most of all she was a cherished and dedicated mother of her 3 children and an utterly devoted and much loved “Mema” to 5 grandchildren.
