Jane Lynn Good
Jane's life touched a huge circle of family and friends. She left a piece of her love, laughter, generosity and a zest for life in all of us. God blessed us with Jane. God called her home on April 30, 2014.
Jane's life journey began in Los Angeles on December 14, 1955. She was the youngest daughter of Louis and Phyllis Scott, and sister to Suzie (& David) Hutchinson and Eric (& Liane) Scott. She grew up as a California beach girl spending family weekends at Catalina Island. She made friends in Orange County that would last a lifetime. Skiing, college and her dental assisting career kept her busy.
Jane married Brian Good in 1985. Their pride and joy, Allison, was born in 1988. They moved to Akron in 1995 for Brian's job. Jane jumped into the local philanthropic groups immediately, assisting in the PTA, Girl Scout Troop 913 and joining Bath Volunteers for Service. She spent hundreds of hours with BVS and was the Annual Home Tour Chair in 2000 and 2005.
After Jane was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2003, she joined Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She participated in four half marathons and raised over $3500, the most for the Akron chapter in 2005. Jane was a Diva for the Akron-Canton Cattle Baron's Ball for several years and was their honorary chairwoman in 2009. She also volunteered on the Quiet Committee and was a co-mentor for EfM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
When Jane wasn't helping others, she was sharing a glass of wine with her girls at Bunco, Book Club and their Birthday Club. Yes, she did spend quality time with Brian, too: traveling, attending concerts and plays, and eating.
She is also survived by her cat, Kiki.
Jane's life mattered. She always believed in herself and inspired everyone with her tenacity and courage.
Jane's Memorial and Celebration of Life Service and reception will be Saturday May 24 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St, Akron, OH 44313. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the International Myeloma Foundation (myeloma.org/800-452-2873) in Jane's name. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
