Janet Petersilge, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, after a long illness.
Janet was born July 20, 1922 in Glasgow, Scotland. She came to this country when she was seven years old as the family emigrated to the Cleveland area. She married Robert Petersilge on June 12, 1948, and they began their life together in Akron.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert. She is survived by her three children, David Debbie of Hudson, Rob Bonnie of Fenton, Michigan, and Jan Keating Rob of Denver; grandchildren, Caty and Christine Petersilge, David Keating, Meredith Buchholz, Shawn Petersilge, Tammy Piacenti, Marc Siebert; and great-grandchildren, Alice, Dominic, Nicholas, and Mason.
Janet had a life of service to others. She was active in the Akron Bar Association Auxiliary, PEO, City Hospital Women's Board, and various boards at the First Congregational Church of Akron. She was a member of Martha Mary, The Somedayers Club, Akron Women's City Club, and WITAN.
Janet was a Scot through and through. Her wry sense of humor was her trademark, as was her love of the color blue. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
The family wishes to pay special thanks to the staff at Laurel Lake where she spent the last several years of her life, as well as the staff at Crossroads Hospice, who cared for her in such a loving way.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. at The First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market St., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Alzheimer's Association , 23215 Commerce Park #310, Cleveland, Ohio 44122 or Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr. Suite E, Green, Ohio 44685 in her memory.
