Janet Lynn Phelps nee Hassinger, 44, died November 2, 2008.
Born in Barberton, she was a life resident of the Portage Lakes area and a graduate of the Coventry Township Joint Vocational School. Always a person who gave of herself, Janet worked in nursing for over 25 years. Her passion for the last 18 years has been her work with the elderly as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Luke's Lutheran Community, Portage Lakes formerly Health Haven.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; son, Tony Genovese; father, James Hassinger Kathy; mother, Donna Carpenter David; brother, James Hassinger, Jr.; sisters, Denise Hassinger, Jacqueline Mitchell, Martha Hassinger and Tracy Roberson; nephews, Matt, Scott and Edward.
Services will be held 11 a.m. SATURDAY at the Billow LAKES Chapel, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., with Pastor Bill Randall officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home FRIDAY, 5 to 8 p.m. In order to continue the work that meant so much to Janet, memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Community, Portage Lakes, 615 Latham Lane, Akron 44319.
