Janet Lee Vanselow Waldsmith
, 78, of Medina, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024. Janet was born to Kenneth and Lydia (Mengerink) Vanselow on September 13th, 1945. She graduated from Highland High School and the Ohio State University, majoring in art education (K-12). She also pursued graduate studies in art therapy at Wright State University. She retired after 30+ years of service from Medina City Schools.
She loved to travel and visited the UK, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Argentina. She married John Waldsmith on September 14, 1991. They honeymooned in Paris, France. She was a member of Granger United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Federation of Doll Collectors, Pie Birds Unlimited, the Glow of Christmas Past, and the Granger, Bath, and Medina Historical societies.
Janet is survived by her husband, John Waldsmith, her sister, Dorthy (Michael) Griffith of Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.
Janet has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will take place SATURDAY, February 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Inurnment immediately following at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery.
