Jean R. Andrus , age 71 of Akron, passed away on Feb 5, 2024. She was loved greatly and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Jean was born in Akron, OH on February 14th, 1952 and graduated from Firestone High School in the class of 1969, and later attended Ohio University.
Jean lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for almost 2 decades where she worked as a composer for the Ft. Lauderdale Sun and enjoyed life in the Sunshine State. After returning to Akron, she worked for a local neighborhood newspaper, several interior design supply companies, as well as Macy's.
Jean was very artistic and multi-talented. She restored nearly every element of her 1900s home, including the electric, plaster, drywall, hardwood flooring and trim. She mastered any skill needed to get the job done, then expressed her artistic side decorating her home. She also enjoyed spending hours at the library researching her family genealogy, tracing her family history back to the late 1500s.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Ruth Andrus; and her brothers, Frederick Jr and Jim. She is survived by her sisters, Betty and Kathy (Ron Lengel); and her nieces, Mallory Lengel (Jim Moderski) and Hunter Lengel.
Private services were held at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel with interment at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn.
