Jean C. Hurteau
After a long, happy, active life, Jean Hurteau died at the age of 94.
Jean was the first of 4 children. Her father, John Joseph Carduff, was a mining engineer in Clarksburg, W. Virginia where he married Jean's mother, Elsie Morris Carduff.
Jean graduated from Clarksburg High School and continued her education at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In 1940 she married Dr. Everett Filer Hurteau, a resident in neurosurgery in Montreal. They moved to Akron in 1947 where they raised their 4 children. Ev and Jean were happily married for 54 years until his passing.
Jean's happiest moments revolved around her home and family, her children's interests, traveling the world with her husband and Swenson's milkshakes. She was an active volunteer at the Akron hospitals, her children's schools and at St. Vincent Church activities.
Jean lived her life with grace and dignity and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Jean reunites with her parents, husband, sister and brother. She is survived by her children, Dr. John Hurteau, Barbara (Dr. John) Vondrak, Diane (William) Meyer and Patricia Hurteau; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Deison.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron 44303. Private family entombment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Hywet Foundation, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron 44303. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
