Jeffrey Glenn Tripp, age 72, passed away May 1, 2016 after a year- long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Josephine (Steingass) Tripp of Medina, Ohio and by his brother, Kerry Tripp. He is survived by his wife, Paivi (Penttila); two daughters, Minna Malajikian (Koko) and Leena Blatt (Jason); two grandchildren, Lillian Blatt and Andrew Malajikian; cousins and three loving dogs, Tippie, Molly, and Rudy (granddog).
Jeff loved his family first and foremost and was always a hands-on father and a loving husband. He was the owner of Special Service Trucking Company in Medina but retired early, which allowed him to be more present for his girls. He could always be seen at his daughters' school and sporting events; horse stables and horse shows. Jeff was the dad that all the kids loved because of his huge smile, loving nature, sense of humor, relaxed attitude, and sincere interest in all of his daughters' friends. He loved being at home on his favorite couch with the fire burning in the stove, dogs on his lap and family around him. You would also see him deep in his thoughts on his tractor mowing the property around the house.
Outside of his family and home in Bath, Jeff found his Heaven on Earth in sailing, boating, and snowmobiling. For many years, Jeff belonged to the Vermilion Yacht Club where he sailed for pleasure and competition. He and Paivi also spent many vacations in McGregor Bay, Canada where they eventually built a summer home and made lifetime friends. Even more than boating in the summer, Jeff loved snowmobiling in the Canadian winters. It is there, amongst the engine noise and speed, that he found peace and quiet in the breath taking scenery.
Jeff had a special knack for talking and had a genuine interest in people. He could talk to anyone, anywhere, for any length of time. Besides his aforementioned passions, Jeff also loved discussing and debating, especially politics. His friends Wayne Baker and Vick Biaselli will no doubt miss the many good times they had over breakfast or on the phone solving world problems.
Because of his gift of gab, Jeff developed many acquaintances and friendships over the years. In addition to his family, Jeff will be missed and remembered by many.
There will be a Memorial Service for Jeff on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Bath Church, United Church of Christ, 3980 W. Bath Rd., Akron 44333 with Pastor Maureen Webber and Pastor Mark Frey officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Hospice of VNS c/o AGMC Foundation, One Akron General Ave., Akron 44307 or to any charity of your choice. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
