He is survived by long-time loving companion Dolores Horschak; step-son Waymon Carter and wife Joyce, their children Andrea (Eric) Williams, Bronwyn (Nick) Mogen, Daniel Carter and Morgan Carter, grandchildren Brenna, Melanie, Miranda, Andrea and Rylie; great-grandchild Christian; sister-in-law Jane Kaneas; nephew and nieces Tony and Mary Kaneas, Marianne and Don Blankenship, Melanie Kaneas, Ginger Alexakis; their children Mark (Lindsay), Karen (Drew), Malina (Jason) Justin and Jordan; grand-nieces and nephews Dillon, Tyler, Kate, Brice, Sydney; very special cousin Ruth Dakes who was always at his beck and call, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jimmie was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, having served in Hawaii after World War II. He was especially proud of his Greek heritage. When he met new people he would always challenge them to pronounce and spell his name. His favorite explanation was "just say "can you take us."

He and Dolores shared many good times together, going to concerts, plays, bus trips and mornings at the Mall with friends and fellow retirees discussing events of the day.
