Joan C. Freadling, 95, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021.
She grew up in Firestone Park where she had many happy childhood memories. She especially enjoyed it when the circus came to town and set up in a field behind her house where she could watch all the activities from the back porch. She was a long-time resident of Norton and then moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather. Later, she moved back to Akron to be closer to family and friends. Joan was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts. She sewed, knitted, and crocheted many items for her family. But she also took delight in playing solitaire, word games, and especially the “Game Show” network. Joan was a loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Clara Labbe, her husband of 39 years, Harold, daughter Marilyn, and brothers, Robert, Clyde, Harold, Gilbert, Carroll, Urban, and sister Mary Helen. Joan is survived by daughters Vivian (Larry) Thesing and Susan McDonald; son Richard (Lynn) Freadling; grandchildren, Brian Whitney, Jennifer, John, and Thomas Thesing, Cory and Kyle Freadling, Tim, Brittany, Lauren, and Scott McDonald along with 6 great-grandchildren.
Due to the current pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment of her remains will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
