Joan Myers Neillie, 75, died October 6, 2009 in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Born in Akron, she had lived six months in Akron and six months in Florida for the past 16 years. She was a graduate of the University of Akron and retired with 28 years service from the Akron Public Schools having taught at Crosby and Mason Elementary Schools. Joan taught Sunday school at Trinity United Church of Christ and was a member of O.E.S. Billow Chapter. She was accomplished in ceramics and painting and many friends benefitted from her generosity. Her compassion for people and animals was a priority over herself.
Joan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronald; nephew, Jack Rickie Bond; and many loving friends.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Dr. Carl P. Wallace officiating. Entombment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 1 hour before services Wednesday.
