ROBINSON, JOAN E.

Joan Robinson (nee Purbaugh), 87, passed away on November 25, 2024. She was born on January 26, 1937, in Akron to Bill and Bess Purbaugh.

Joan worked as a secretary at Goodyear, where she met her husband, Alan Robinson. She retired in 1964 to focus on her family: Pat, Lauri, Cheryle, Mike (Nikki), and Michelle (Jim). Joan was also a proud grandma to Josh, Sarah (Nick), Jesse (Meghan), Ryan, and Emily, and great-grandma to Oliver. For Joan, family was everything. She had a huge, generous heart and always put her family first. She loved to send cards, notes, and gifts on all occasions and to simply say hi.

Joan was equally as generous with her time as an active volunteer for two organizations. She was the secretary for the Cuyahoga Falls Oktoberfest Committee for over 20 years, which she enjoyed very much. Joan also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of Akron, starting when the home first opened in 1985. She was there for over 36 years, logging in 9,449 hours.

Joan also had many activities she enjoyed, such as baking (her chocolate chip cookies were beloved by many), reading, word search puzzles, playing cards, and watching game shows as well as the Cavs, Indians, and Browns. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family extends sincere gratitude to her neighbor, Denny Tharp, who was a good friend to Joan for many years and helped to maintain her property. Thank you, Denny.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ronald McDonald House of Akron (rmhcneo.org), 141 West State Street, Akron, OH 44302.
