Joanne Baker

JoAnne Baker, an RN and a long-time resident of Akron, OH passed on January 30, 2021. Joanne is survived by four of her children: Sons- Chris, Tom and Michael; Daughter Mollie McEaneney.  She is predeceased by her daughter Carrie Baker and her son Matthew Baker. While raising 6 children as a single mom, Joanne fought for civil rights with Planned Parenthood and Fair Housing, and served multiple years as PTA president.  She was an RN at Akron General and retired after spending a number of years as the Psych unit’s head nurse. Besides being an avid bridge player, she was an active movie goer, opera lover, and adored ballets and symphonies. She loved sharing all these experiences with a wide circle of friends that will all miss her dearly.  There will be no memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center.
