JoAnne Mockbee, 54, of Bath, Ohio passed away February 5th at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
JoAnne is survived by her husband, Jeffrey C. Mockbee; her children, Megan Rose (Michael Caulfield), Mark Jeffrey, Jeffrey Joseph "Joe", and Madelyn Grace; her mother, Josie Valcho; her siblings, Margaret Gaydos (Joe Fetscher), George (Allison) Valcho, and Mathew (Gaile) Valcho; her mother and father-in-law, Charles and Joan Mockbee; sister-in-law, Traci (David) Hunt; brother-in-law, Michael (Patti) Mockbee and her loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, George J. Valcho.
She was born May 21st, 1962 in Levittown, PA to George and Josie Valcho. She grew up in Liberty Township, Ohio and graduated from Liberty High School in 1980. She graduated from University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Science in Speech Language Pathology and University of Akron with a Masters of Art in Communicative Disorders - Speech Pathology. She was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority while at Cincinnati where she met her husband. On July 25th, 1987 she married Jeff Mockbee at The Bath United Church of Christ. She was an active member of the Akron City Hospital Junior Board for many years. Jeff & JoAnne have resided in Bath, Ohio for 30 years raising their children. JoAnne was a devoted wife, mother and friend and cherished the time she spent with her family. JoAnne enjoyed reading, traveling, watching her children's activities, interacting with her students, and spending time in the sun. Her warm smile and light-hearted giggle will be forever remembered by all those who were blessed to know JoAnne.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 9th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Services, officiated by Rev. Maureen A. Webber, will be held Friday, February 10th at 11:00 a.m. at The Bath United Church of Christ at 3980 West Bath Road.
