John Jacob Flegler II
John passed on 5/31/22 at 73 years, as an only child preceded in death by his parents, David F. Flegler and Helen Gillon Flegler (nee Winecoff). He struggled many years with emphysema and finally lung cancer. He was a charitable man who felt compelled to help many charities.
John was a very private man who traveled the country early in life and chose to live alone his last 30 years at his childhood home. Self-described as a wild child, he enjoyed painting, drawing, and ceramics and loved books, complicated math, and music. He spent 15 years of his life as a graves-keeper in Glendale, Ca., among other jobs.
When John became ill, he was ‘adopted’ by the “6th St. gang“ (close neighbors) who came to know and love him. He passed peacefully at home in the presence of these loving neighbors. His best friend since childhood was Mark Foltz (fellow artist in Arizona).
Cremation has taken place. His cremains will be interred on Wednesday, 12/7/22 (3:00pm) at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in his name to: Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, 2131 Front St., Cuy. Falls, Ohio.
