John J. Guy, of Akron, Ohio, passed away April 15, 2013 after a brief illness.
He was born January 10, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pa. and graduated from Kent State University, where he was President of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and University of Akron Law School. While attending Kent State, he met and then married the love of his life, Donamari Dunkel in August, 1969.
John practiced commercial law in Akron for over forty years. He was widely recognized by his peers for his integrity and ability. An avid boater and golfer, John enjoyed spending his summers at Bay Point on Lake Erie. He was an incredible husband, a wonderful father, super grandfather and a great friend to many.
John is survived by his wife, Donamari; two sons, Greg (Heather) of Ellicott City, Md., and Chris of Akron. Duke adored his grandsons, Bradley and Danny and was looking forward to the arrival of his first granddaughter in July. He is also survived by his sister, Patty of Euclid; and numerous family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Gretchen (Donovan Pinder); parents, John and Florence Guy; brothers, Norman Guy and Ted Miller.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, 44333. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20th at 11 a.m. at Fairlawn West United Church of Christ, 2095 West Market St., Akron, 44313, with Rev. Tom Gerstenlauer officiating.
