Fairlawn... .John Lagios passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023 with his family by his side. John, his brother Pete, and his dad traveled from Greece to Akron, Ohio in 1947 to join his aunt and uncle for a new life in the United States. His mom, sister Joyce and brother Gus soon after joined them.
John graduated from the University of Akron, worked for the ACME grocery stores for 47 years and was proud of the work he did and who he worked for. Even prouder to know his employer, Fred Albrecht.
He loved to read, especially history books and made sure to vote.
He was also proud to be Greek and to be a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Proud to be a member of the choir for over 50 years and to volunteer for the Church's Gyro luncheon...loved to make his specialty—ice tea.
John will be missed by his brothers, Peter (Maria), Gus, sister, Joyce. Also, nephew, Andrea and niece, Leah Kazaglis (Dr. Jeff) plus great nieces, Alexandra & Chloe Kazaglis and Peter Kazaglis and many cousins throughout the U.S. and Greece.
John's family would like to thank the staff at Nursing 2100 at Akron General, the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospice Nurses and the Nurses and Aides at Timberland Ridge in Fairlawn.
