John V. Lund

May 29, 1945 — January 20, 2019

John V. Lund, Jr., 73, went home to be with the Lord January 20, 2019. John, an ardent long-distance runner during his physical life, has now completed the last leg of his spiritual marathon meeting his creator at the finish line.

Born May 29, 1945, in Waco, TX to John V. and Marie A. Lund, John graduated from Buchtel High School in 1963. Two years later in 1966, John married his partner in faith Sandy. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. After studying at the University of Akron, he embarked on a long career as a civil engineer and business development executive. At the age of 70, John began the tapered process of retiring from CTI Engineers, enabling him to prioritize his time to spend with his wife of 53 years, two kids, and six grandchildren. In retirement, John continued to run, physically, completing the Disney Marathon in 2013, and spiritually by using his terminal ALS diagnoses as an opportunity to witness his faith and trust in Christ. John's mainstay was investing in Church, family and in traditions.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Lund; his brother, Victor; and child, Jeremiah; he is survived by his wife, Sandra Lund; children, Jonathan D. Lund and Shawn R Lund; sister, Denyse Lund; brother, Joseph Lund; and grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received in the Memorial Chapel at the Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, from 10 a.m. until Funeral Service begins at Noon Friday, January 25th. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 P.M. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Foundation. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
