John T. Mellion, 91, died June 1, 2011.
Born Dec. 6. 1919 to Joseph T. and Thomaye Mellion, he was a 1938 graduate of Springfield High School where he earned the Manhood Cup for sports, lettering eleven times. He graduated from Miami University, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, received a law degree from Case Western Reserve Law School, and was a member of Delta Theta Pi Law Fraternity. John practiced Law for 43 years, serving his community with integrity and honor including as president of East Akron Community House and long-time member of the Board of the Legal Aid Society and the American Albanian Men's Club. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over 65 years where he actively served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and president of the Church Council.
Preceded in death by his brother, Louis J. Mellion, he is survived by Virginia, his beloved wife of 66 years; son, Paul Susan Mellion; daughters, Patricia Jack McDermott, Christine Mellion and Mary Mellion, all of Akron; grandchildren, Heather Mellion of New York and Dr. Marc Mellion of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Helen Mellion of Akron; many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held 11 a.m. TUESDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Carl Wallace officiating. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home MONDAY from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N.
