John E. Meyer, 85, died July 10, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center.
Born in Evanston, Ill., he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and graduate of Beloit College. John started his career working for his father. Moving to Akron in 1962, he went to work for American Cyanamid, retiring in 1985. An avid golfer, he was a 48 year member of the Fairlawn Country Club.
Preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Lukity, he is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 60 years; children, Kathryn Lukity (Jeffrey), Susan King (Michael), Fredrick Meyer (Sandra) and Caroyn Jo Williams (Brian); grandchildren, Lauren, Leslie, Erin, Allison, Savannah, Brian, Dana and Alex; great-grandchildren, Owen and Marin; and sister, Janet Becker.
There are no services. The family will receive friends on FRIDAY from 4 to 8 p.m. at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Akron General Development Foundation, (Hospice Care Center, McDowell Cancer Center or the Emergency Department), 400 Wabash Ave., Akron, Ohio 44307.
