John Ross Parsell, 77, died August 24, 2009.
Born Feb. 28, 1932 in Orrville, Ohio, he was raised in Akron and graduated from East High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and retired with 43 years service from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He was a member of Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church and the Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida. A caring man, he donated over 20 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.
Preceded in death by parents, Clarence W. and Mary F. Parsell, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Flora; stepdaughter, Cynthia Bill Sterrett of Blacksburg, Virginia; granddaughters, Stephanie of Roanoke, Virginia and Meredith of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Anne Ed Titus of Federal Way, Washington; brother-in-law, Walter Spencer of Dade City, Florida; and his beloved cat, Charlie.
Private family services will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4904 Quick Rd., Peninsula 44264.
