John M Ross

John M. Ross, 85, passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side on April 8, 2016.

John was born March 21, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Mary Elizabeth McClure and John William Ross. He graduated from The Hill School, Yale University and Temple School of Law. He practiced law in Philadelphia with Duane Morris. In 1965 he joined the Law Department of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he spent thirty years until his retirement as Vice President and General Counsel.

He was a member Big Brothers of America, Ohio Bar Association, Litchfield Rehabilitation Board and belonged to The First Congregational Church of Akron.

John grew up spending summers at Chautauqua, NY. Later in life, it was the beaches of Stone Harbor, NJ, at his vacation home he spent as much time as possible with family and friends.

John was the beloved husband of Janet for 60 years; father of Scott and his wife Leslie of Whippany, NJ and Douglas of San Francisco, CA; the proud grandparent of Zoey and William; and brother of Jane R. Moore of Oberlin, OH. John was preceded in death by his first son, William John "Bill" (1958 to 1977).

Family and friends are invited to the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road, Akron, for visitation at 10:00 am on Friday April 15th followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the William John Ross Scholarship Fund at Western Reserve Academy, 115 College Street, Hudson, OH 44236 are appreciated.
