John Ross, of Akron, died August 26, 2013 at home while under the care of hospice. He was born September 11, 1923.
John served 21 years in the U.S. Army during World War II and in Korea; he retired in 1963. He went on to work at the University of Kentucky and then entered the health planning field which brought John and his wife to Ohio in 1979.
John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores (D.) Ross; daughter, Beth Severidt; grandsons, Mike (Megan) Severidt and Douglas Severidt; and great grandsons, Brennan and Mason.
A memorial service will be held at Fairlawn Lutheran Church on Friday, August 30 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour before (10 a.m.) the service at the church. Private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333 or to the Army Emergency Relief (AER), Attn: Donations, 200 Stovall St., Rm 5S33, Alexandria, VA 22332-0600.
