John Elmer Savage
On December 21, 2015 John Elmer Savage passed away peacefully in Hendersonville, North Carolina with family at his side.
He was born on November 8, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio. He started work at Ohio Bell Telephone Company in 1941. He joined the United States Army in March of 1943. He served in the Signal Corps in Europe during World War II. He returned to Ohio Bell in February 1946 and retired from there in 1983. He was married to Frances from 1946 until her death on Mothers' Day 2004. They lived in their motor home for 14 years and had many wonderful years of traveling with their camping club and trips to Hawaii and Alaska.
He is preceded in death by his son, John, and grandson, Jeremy Savage. His memory will be cherished by his children, Lynn (Bob) Roberts and Chuck (Melanie) Savage; grandchildren, Kerry Mistovich, Megan (Travis) Francy, Amanda (Jeff) Kalal, Charles (Noelle) Savage, Gina (Weston) Corbin, Kelly Savage, Jamie (Cedric) Johnson, and Dara (Ryan) Schultz; six great grandchildren.
His funeral will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on Friday, January 8th at 11AM. After he lost his vision he spent many hours listening to books on CD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Akron Public Library or Taylor Memorial Library in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. FU (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
