John Thomas Strickland, age 81, died on March 9, 2017, in Akron, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Sibyl Sutton Strickland, and his three sons John, Timothy, and James. He has two grandchildren Harry and Wyatt.
John was born on June 23, 1935 in Barberton, Ohio to parents John W and E. Ruth Strickland. He graduated from Western Reserve Academy in 1953 and Princeton University in 1957 with a degree in Biology. John worked the majority of his career as a Management Consultant.
John earned his Eagle Scout in 1949, his three sons followed in his footsteps earning their Eagle Scouts as well. John was a very proud recipient of the Boy Scouts of Americas highest volunteer award the Silver Beaver.
John followed the Boy Scout Oath of "Do my best to do my duty" and proudly served the nation in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1958 - 1964.
John was passionate about education. Following graduation from Princeton he taught Biology at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy. After his work as a Management Consultant he took to teaching again as a substitute teacher in the Akron Public Schools until 2012.

A private family service will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Reverend Mark Pruitt officiating. The family would like to thank their neighbors and friends; as well as the staff of hospice and Bath Manor for their care and support during this difficult time.
