Joseph F. Kalous , 88, of Cuyahoga Falls, formerly of Maple Hts., Ohio passed away on November 22, 2022.
Joseph was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 29, 1934 to the late Joseph and Elsie Kalous. He is preceded in death by his first wife Rosemary Kalous (nee Svray); daughter Amy Duffin; and sister Elaine Phillips.
He is survived by his wife Rita Kalous (nee Johnmann); children Brian (Terry) Kalous, Diane (Dan Sagraves) Woloszyn, and Elaine Kalous; grandchildren Matthew (Kristen Carmona) Kalous, Amanda (David) Short, Timothy Woloszyn, and Samantha (Nick Shaheen) Woloszyn; and great granddaughter Kennedy Rose Kalous. Joseph graduated from East Technical High school, then entered the U.S. Army where he became a staff sergeant in the 7th Infantry Division.
After an honorable discharge from the Army Joseph attended Fenn College where he studied engineering. He had an accomplished career as a fastener design engineer and received an honorary doctorate from Loyola University for his career achievements and contributions to the engineering community. A fan of both baseball and golf, Joseph belonged to several leagues throughout the years. He was an aficionado and collector of both antique and modern timepieces, coins, and writing instruments. Joseph had a generous spirit and a very quick wit. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. Private family services will take place. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Akron Canton Food Bank.
