Joseph Alex Shandor

The party in heaven got a little more lively with the arrival of Joseph Alex Shandor, II on November 6, 2016.

Joseph was born September 20, 1941 in Akron, OH, the oldest of three children to Joseph and Geraldine Shandor. After serving in the US Army, Joe started his career in advertising at the Akron Beacon Journal. He continued his work in advertising at WHLO radio, and became an advertising executive with Hesselbart & Mitten Advertising Company, Stalker Advertising, and Shandor and Associates. Joe changed careers in 1976, founding A & A Builders, Inc., a successful family-run business for 35+ years. Joe was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, actor, chef, and comedian, who enjoyed every social opportunity. This included his morning coffee group, Tuesday morning men's Bible study at CrossPoint Alliance Church, and the treasured fellowship of dear AA brothers and sisters. He was proud of his 40 years in AA, and a life and family made richer through surrender to God's grace and guidance.

Joseph will be missed deeply by his loving wife of 54 years, Diane Shandor; daughters, Connie (William) Bruce and Deborah (David) Bruce; grandchildren, Jonathan Oldham, Sarah Oldham, Emma Bruce, Hannah Oldham, Amanda (Eric) Bruce-McChesney, Liam Bruce, and Conner Bruce; brothers, James (Elaine) Shandor and John Shandor; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at CrossPoint Alliance Church with Rev. Tim Feather officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before services.
