Joseph M. Ulrich III, 64, of Akron Ohio passed away September 2, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Joe was born, December 8, 1948 and had been an area resident all his life with the exception of Gow Prep School and Ashland University.
Joe knew everyone and everyone knew Joe. He was a kind and gentle man who worked for Jeter
Systems for 35 years, for Highland Schools and finally with the Regional Transit Authority. He was
recently told that he set the bar so high for the others he worked with that no one would ever match his loyalty, dedication, service and amazing work ethic. Joe went the extra mile for his family and for all those who were lucky enough to know him. Joe will always be with us.
Joe was preceded in death by daughter, Gretchen Ulrich; father, Joseph M. Ulrich Jr.; grandparents, Dr. Joseph M. Ulrich (Violet), George E. McKenna (Mina); uncles, Richard and James Ulrich; and aunt, Geraldine Enderline. He will be deeply and continually missed by Deborah, his wife of 20 years; son, Joseph M. Ulrich IV; mother Rita Ulrich; step-daughter, Jennifer Mancino; step-son, Scott Mancino (Kimberly); sister, Kathy Raynor (Don) of Akron; brother, Thomas Ulrich (Robin Muscato) of Akron; sister Susie Ruhlin (Jim) of Medina; brother, Stephen Ulrich, of Hollywood, Florida; and uncle, Phil Ulrich (Dottie). Joe especially loved all his nieces and nephews and was usually the first person to visit when they came home from the hospital. Matt Raynor (Mary) and Emery, Olivia, Molly, Cassie and Savannah, Kelly Raynor (Daniel Ruggiero), Megan Smith (Jeffrey) and Bailey, Jim Ruhlin, Dr. Mike Ruhlin (Maureen), Katie Ruhlin, Ryan Ulrich (Maggie) and Hannah, Emily Ulrich, Sarah Ulrich and Ari, Mia Ulrich, Alexis Agnello (John) and Austin, and Kenton Muscato. Joe had a very special place in his heart for Estelle Rauh from the very moment he saw her and a very special bond with her mother, Ursula.
Special thanks to Dr. Barbara Bailey and staff, Dr. Joseph Koenig and Summa Oncology, and 7th floor oncology at Akron City Hospital.
