Josephine (Benak) Moore, age 94, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Born September 28, 1919 in Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of John and Susan (Staurozka) Benak. She came to the U.S. at the age of seven and lived in Akron.
Jo was a long time active member of the West Congregational Church/ United Church of Christ in Fairlawn. She was a woman of amazing talent and accomplishments.
She is survived by son Don (Elizabeth) Moore and daughter Sharon (Don) Papp; grandchildren: Don (Karen) Papp, Kim (Scott) Caldwell, Jennifer (John) Grogan, Tim (Stacy) Papp, Tami (Rod) Bragg, Terri (John) Sterling, and Christine (Bob) Balogh; 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great- grandchildren; dear friend and neighbor Linda Santschi. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald T. Moore in 1992 and a daughter Susan McClelland.
Services will be held at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. at 4:00PM on Sunday, June 1, 2014; friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Magical Theater Company, 565 W. Tusc. Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gaslight Villa for the loving care Jo received.
