Josephine (Joann) Ann Switzer

Josephine Ann Switzer (Joann) passed from this life on August 1, 2023, at age 96.
She was born on June 19, 1927, the daughter of loving parents Joseph Roy and Wilhemina Marie (Redmond) Halladay. Joann had three siblings: Margaret, Dorothy, and Robert Halladay. The family lived in Ashland, Ohio, where Joann attended school.

In 1947 she married Duane Russell Switzer in Ashland. They raised their children, Susan and Stephen, in Macedonia, Ohio. They were a caring and close family. They enjoyed flea markets and traveling in particular. They cherished memories of vacations and trips together. They were fortunate to have traveled to England, Europe, Japan and Hong Kong as a family. In addition, Joann also enjoyed playing Bridge and golfing with her friends. She was the Girl Scout leader for Susan's troop and a supporter of Stephen's school activities.

Family and friends remember Joann's kindness, concern and support for all. She was, above all else, a most caring and loving mother and grandmother. Her family was the focus of her life.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband Duane Switzer. She lived independently 33 more years. Her memory lives on through her surviving family: son Stephen and wife Camille; treasured grandchildren Ben Switzer and Rachel (David) Stanek; daughter Susan and husband Wayne Greene, and her brother, Robert Kent Halladay.

Per Joann's request, a private family service has already been conducted, interment at Crown Hill Cemetery Twinsburg, Ohio.
