Judith L. DeOrio died peacefully and suddenly in her home on August 30, 2017.
She was a graduate of North High School and New York University, Tisch School of Fine and Performing Arts. She played fourth chair, first violin section for the Cleveland Orchestra under the direction of Maestro George Szell. Years later Judith rose through the ranks of First National Bank in Akron. She moved to the Atlantic City area and again rose to be become vice president at the First National Bank of South Jersey in charge of mortgage lending. Her business career continued when she founded Discovery Travel and Tours in Atlantic City, NJ. One of Judith's proud accomplishments included serving for 17 years as chairman of the Historic District Commission in Cape May, NJ. At her direction that committee developed a list of over 600 Victorian Buildings of note. This list enabled the beach front city of Cape May to gain the status of a National Historic Landmark City under the protection of the Federal Department of the Interior. Judith was co-owner of the Mission Inn B and B in Cape May. Judith's love of travel took her to many Caribbean Islands and Mexico with a strong concentration in Europe.
She was a devoted Roman Catholic, very strong in her faith and she carried her faith in God quietly yet close to her heart. Judith leaves many cousins and friends to whom she was loving and faithful. She is preceded in death by her mother, Violette M. and her father, Steve DeOrio.
