Our beloved mother Judith Folk passed away peacefully Monday April 29th after a long rewarding life. She was passionate about the arts, reading, playing classical guitar and piano. She was a master painter and artist who made exquisite quilts and contemporary textile wall hangings.
Judith was born in Akron, Ohio to Ester and Russell Bair whose family members have a long history in Bath Township. She preferred the name Judy and graduated from Buchtel High School. She married Earl Folk and focused on raising her family. Later in life she found her calling working for Pappas Insurance where she was a valuable member of the team.
Her married children, Wendy Steed, Robin West, Christopher Folk, Melinda Carpenter and Jenifer Allison all shared a love of art and expressed their creativity in a range of media.
One of Judy’s greatest pleasures was the purchase of acreage in Freeport, Ohio where the family enjoyed summers raising vegetables, picking wild black raspberries and watching the children riding the ponies across the fields. The next adventure was a cabin on Lake Milton to enjoy picnics, boating and jet skiing on the lake.
Judith was blessed with seven grandchildren, Forrest Folk, Joanna, Rachel and John West, Robbie and Rebecca Allison, and Jonathon Steed. Great-grandchildren include Vivian and Violet Folk and Catherine Allison.
She reached her 90th birthday on April 10th with a gathering of family and died peacefully on April 29th, 2024, after a long illness.
She will be buried at the Bath Center Cemetery at 1241 N. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. She will join her mother, father, infant sister in the family plot next to many ancestors buried in the historic cemetery.
A private family Celebration of Life is planned for next month.
