Judith A. Hooper

Judi passed away January 24,2019
Judi was born in Akron on Jan 14,1943 to Harold and Harriet Nelson. As a child she took dance lessons at Mary Pollocks dance studio for 12 years which attributed to the grace and poise she always displayed throughout her life. Graduated Akron Buchtel High School in 1961. Judi attended the University of Akron majoring in interior design and all her homes displayed her decorating talent. Judi married in 1968 to her beloved Jimmy. Together they had two daughters and two grandchildren whom she adored. She was once said, "I was born to be a wife and a mother" and she was the best. Her artistic talents were displayed in her paintings on glass and large milk containers which she always gave away and never kept for herself. She loved making others happy and never expected anything in return. She always had a kind word for all. Anyone who ever met her never forgot her. Judi was the embodiment of beauty, style and grace. She loved Mother Nature and all her creatures except spiders and snakes. Judi was happiest when she was at the beach in Nags Head with family. She renewed her wedding vows for 50th anniversary on the beach in OBX which brought her great joy. She was a kind soul and will be greatly missed.
She died of complications from surgery performed October 30, 2018. In typical Judi fashion she gave 100% effort and dignity toward recovery during those grueling 87 days. She died peacefully holding her husband's hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Theodore; brothers, Dick and Ron Nelson. She is survived by her husband Jim of 50 years; daughters, Melissa O'Connell (Clark Burns) and Carrie Hooper; grandchildren, Chance Hooper and Caroline Burns; Sisters-in-Law, Linda Fleisch and Joyce Nelson; and many Nieces and Nephews.
