Karen Elaine Lindesmith, 64, passed away quietly at home on April 7, 2021 after a short illness. Her son Mathew and husband John were by her side.
She was born in Macon, Georgia on February 17, 1957 to Ira and Joann Harrell. At an early age she moved to Barberton, OH and attended Barberton High School graduating in 1975. She proceeded to nursing school at Akron General School of Nursing graduating in 1978 as a Registered Nurse. Karen worked a short time at Akron General, it was there she met her husband John. She then moved on to Cuyahoga Falls General (Western Reserve Hospital) and was employed there for 38 years, last working in the Infusion Center where she developed many close relationships.
Karen was a Christ follower and regardless of her quiet nature she was bold in her faith. She shared her Christianity with those around her and did this by being an encourager and by setting an example with her gentle way and consistent behavior. She was loved and respected by those who knew her and those who had recently met her. She and John have been members of Northwest Avenue Church of Christ for over 30 years.
Preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, David Hazelett. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, John; her sons, Jason (Kari) Lindesmith and Mathew (Anna Marie Kraus) Lindesmith; grandsons, Maddox, Jesse and Riley; sisters, Carla Wagner and Robin (Rich) Vadaz; step-mother, Lucille Harrell; brothers-in-law, Brian, Craig (Traci), Kevin (Carole), and Christopher Lindesmith; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Deb and Wanda; her NW Ave. Church family; and her “little girl”, her dog Sadie.
The family would like to thank Karen’s co-workers for their support and prayers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Northwest Avenue Church of Christ with Pastor Scott Baker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Cremation will take place the following day.
