Katherine Irene Keirns Saddler
Katherine Irene Keirns Saddler, age 95, was born January 22, 1915 and went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2010.
Katherine had been a resident of Elyria for the past sixty years and was a resident of AbbeWood Senior Living Community for the past ten. She was born in Athens, Ohio to Dayton and Vernis Phillips Keirns; then moved to Akron where she attended Garfield High School in the late 1920s.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years Thomas M. Saddler, Sr., and her siblings, Delva Pado and Harry Keirns, Katherine is survived by her daughter, Harriet Dick Peters of Bath; her son, Tom, Jr. Jackie of North Dakota; her grandsons, Chris Kim Peters of Tennessee and Thomas of New Mexico; her granddaughters, Suzanne Peters and Kathy Mark Roberts of Bath, and Jennifer Bryan Phillips of Conneticut; her great-granddaughters, Katherine Peters of Tennessee, Sarah Mitchell Joyner of North Carolina, Lauren Peters currently serving on the U.S.S. Dubuque, and Christina and Samantha Roberts of Bath; her great-grandson, Keegan Phillips of Conneticut; her great-great-grandson, Mason Joyner of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and family members who all remember her fondly.
Katherine was retired from the American Automobile Association in Elyria where she worked for many years as a travel agent. A loving, caring, and generous wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Katherine will always be remembered for her spotlessly clean home, her sunny personality, and her warm sense of humor.
Services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11 am at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron with Rev. Mark W. Frey officiating. Burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
