Kathryn Pinter, 96 years old, passed away in her home on Friday, December 8 at 10 a.m., surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Barberton, Ohio on July 13, 1921 to parents John and Kathryn Trpka from Pivnice, Serbia.
She graduated two years early from Barberton High School and worked at Yoder Brothers and Keypunch Services, while raising six children. She loved music; helped form the Norton Band Boosters; sang with the Norton Mother Singers; and supported the Parish Arts Series at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, attending every concert. She served the Braille Ministry and helped form Brown Bagger's, which provides meals to the homeless. She loved sports, especially the Indians, Buckeyes and Cavaliers, eagerly reading daily news articles about the players. She rode her bike daily and wrote to her friends daily (via email), here and in Europe (using the Slovak language).
She loved all her children and grand-daughter, Shelly, and her son's energetic little dog, Lhasa (who also loved her dearly), her church and all the holidays. This year's Christmas preparation was even complete, with a beautifully decorated tree lighting up her living room, decorated by her daughter, Pam and son, Fred.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Joe; both parents; and siblings, Sue, Paul, Mary, Ann, Steve and Betty. She leaves behind six children, Gary, Joellen, Pam Douglas (husband, Dave), Kathie Ranomer (husband, Jim), Richard and Fred; and granddaughter, Shelly Koehler (husband, Dan).
Everyone is invited to her funeral, Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m., at Fairlawn Lutheran Church. Visitation hours at the church will start at 10 a.m., prior to the funeral, and on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., from 4-6 p.m. A luncheon at 12:30 Wednesday, at the church follows graveside services at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Her family wishes to thank everyone who helped with her health care during the past year; the nurses, doctors and aids provided by Summa-at-Home; and especially, her own son, Fred, who cared for her night and day, asking only for short daily breaks, provided by sisters and brothers.
