Kathryn Ann Spector

November 16, 1951 — February 4, 2023

Kathryn Ann Spector passed away peacefully on Saturday February 4, 2023. Kathy was born to Helen and John Melgun and raised in the Cleveland area along with her siblings, John and Paula. After completing nursing studies at St. Alexis School of Nursing, she focused the majority of her career on cardiac surgery, working at Cleveland Clinic, Hillcrest Hospital, and University Hospitals. Kathy was a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant. She was known for her surgical skills and precise suturing, which enabled her to work in plastic surgery in the late stages of her career.

Kathy met Michael Spector in 1975; they were married on June 3, 1978. Together, they grew their beautiful family with the births of their children Samantha, Nicole, and Joshua whom they raised in Gates Mills and Bath, Ohio.

Kathy had many loves and passions which drew others to her. While able, she nurtured her love of horses and horseback riding (which was carefully managed so as not to trigger Mike’s allergies). Her creative and artistic nature was evident in her eye for interior design and her personal collection of art, pottery, ceramics, and other accessories. She was also admired for her bright and bold fashion sense. Kathy loved to cook, bake, and entertain in their home. Her signature recipes which she shared with so many will be fondly remembered.

While Kathy endured many challenges with her health and mobility due to multiple knee and shoulder surgeries and later in life, progressive supranuclear palsy, she never allowed any of that to keep her down. She was always available to chat and lend an ear of support whenever anyone needed her. She lived vibrantly and had a smile so big it could brighten any room. Kathy will have an everlasting place in our hearts.

To honor Kathy, family and friends are welcomed to gather and share memories on Thursday, February 9, 2023 4-8pm at their home. Light bites will be served.
