Kathryn ("Kathy") L. Ducharme

Kathryn (“Kathy”) L. DuCharme (née Semanco), 67, of Copley passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2023. Kathy was born on June 12, 1955 in Akron. She graduated from Revere High School in 1973 and went on to earn her B.S.B.A. from the University of Akron, graduating cum laude. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis (“Denny”) in 1977, immediately following her college graduation. They celebrated 45 years of loving marriage this past July. Kathy devoted her life to her husband and children. Her encouragement and sacrifice never wavered.

Kathy was an avid walker, often venturing with Denny to the Tow Path with a stop at Szalay’s in the summer to pick up corn together. She loved all things French, especially enjoying a glass of rosé outside with the ones she loved. Kathy always put others’ needs before her own. She loved and cherished her four grandchildren and the wonderful family trips to Marco Island, Florida.

Kathy spent her professional life as a career coach, supporting hundreds of people seeking job outplacement resources. The past ten years she worked as a Senior Consultant at Ratliff & Taylor. She was also the first Human Resources Manager at Goldfish Swim School in Birmingham, Michigan, upon the company’s founding.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Denny; children, Kimberly (Tim) Wechter and Scott (Abigail) DuCharme; and grandchildren, Claire, Garrett, Marielle, and George. She is also survived by her sister, Gail (Phil) Danford. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Kit and William Semanco.

The family will share Celebration of Life event details with friends and family privately.
