Kenneth G. George

Kenneth G. George, affectionately known by many as "Mike," passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born on December 14, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ella of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Eunice Miller of Pittsburgh, PA; brothers, Curtis George of Doylestown, OH and Everett George of York, PA.

Kenneth honorably served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army before dedicating over 30 years to a career with The Ohio Edison / First Energy Corporation. He spent a significant portion of his life residing in Barberton, OH. Following the passing of his first wife, Marie, Kenneth remarried and moved to Mt. Lebanon, TN, before eventually returning to Akron, OH.

A devout man of faith, Kenneth was an active member of Faith Family Church in Fairlawn, OH. He found great joy in reading the Bible and spending time in worship. He was also a loyal fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and an avid viewer of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy."

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Annie; son, James George of Bath Township, OH; cherished grandchildren, Andrew George of Bozeman, MT, and Meghan George of Bentonville, AR; sister, June Scarpino of Carbon, PA. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as his stepchildren, Amy Nethken and her sons, Beckham Nethken of Akron, OH and Zachary McBride of Geneva, OH and Lorine Beach of Akron, OH, along with her son, Mark Harper of Stow, OH.

A private family interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery (Section GT-3), located at 2580 Romig Road, Akron, OH, 44320.
