Kenneth Henry, of Akron, OH, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the age of 84 following a lengthy illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Phyllis (Postell) Henry; his sons, Mitchell Henry and his wife Mary Storer and Gregory Henry and his wife Jéanne; his loyal little schnauzer, Misty; and many close friends and colleagues.
Ken was born to parents Dewey and Christena (Stewart) Henry on December 31, 1931 in Wickliffe, Ohio. He grew up as the youngest of four and graduated from Willoughby High School.
In 1948, he was drafted into the Marine Corps and served proudly during the Korean War. After his discharge, Ken attended Bowling Green State University. In 1955, he met and married the love of his life, Phyllis Postell of Marion, Ohio. His first professional position was as a staff accountant in Rittman, Ohio. A career change lead him to the field of sales which remained his path for the rest of his working life, with a focus on industrial pneumatic systems and design.
In his free time, Ken had a passion for woodworking and gardening. He loved building clocks and furniture for family and friends. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Medina Country Club. His favorite activity, however, was spending time with his family.
Ken most recently worked for Keystone Components as a sales engineer until his retirement in 2014.
A private family graveside service will be held. The family is grateful for condolences, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bath Church, United of Christ or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
