Kim Hong "Kenny" Hom, age 83, formerly of Rahway, on Thursday December 31, 2015, passed away from complications due to Parkinson's Disease at Akron General Hospice Care in Copley, Ohio. Beloved husband for 56 years of Pui Hang Hom; Loving father of Henry Hom and his wife Mary, and Martha Hom; Caring brother of Jin Pei Tam and Nancy Wan; Treasured grandfather of David, Joseph, and Maria Hom; Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, "Iye Gou" Li.
Born in China, Mr. Hom came to the United States in 1951 at the age of 18. He started working at a restaurant on 6th Avenue in New York City near Macy's. In 1955, he moved to Rahway, New Jersey, where he resided for 50 years. Mr. Hom, known to many as Kenny, was an owner of the Canton House Chinese Restaurant of Rahway for almost 40 years before retiring in 1994. He has been residing in Fairlawn, Ohio, for the past 10 years. He enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and telling stories about his early days in New York City and his life at the restaurant in Rahway.
A private service was offered for Mr. Hom at Billow Funeral Home in Fairlawn, Ohio, on January 4, 2015.
