Larry S Givens

Larry S. Givens, 68, died Nov. 10, 2014.

Born in Akron, Larry joined the Akron Police Department in 1969 and retired as Chief of Police. He was an Assistant Sheriff with the Summit County Sheriff's Department and was a member of the Summit County Council. He loved being a policeman and going to work every day.

Preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Eleanor; and brother, Ernest, Jr.; he is survived by beloved wife, Mary; son, Tim; grandchildren, Evelyn, Lauren, and Stuart; four legged angel, Lucy; brothers, Sandy (Kathy) and Michael (Ellen, deceased); sisters, Debbie Givens and Sherri (Stan) Sheetz; and many friends. Larry was blessed with love and support of his dearest friends, Craig Gilbride, Ray Kapper, Tom Overfield and Bob Pfahl (deceased). Special thanks to Keri, the best hospice nurse ever.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Robert Denton officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the animal rescue group of your choice. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
